Ah, dramedy. What even are you? Are you a lighthearted drama? A comedy with heart? Something else entirely? We've never figured you out, and we're not the only ones. Fellow writers and execs don't know what to make of you either. But you're getting used more and more these days, and we want to understand you.
To untangle this web once and for all (well, we'll see), Roadmap welcomes three esteemed execs to the webinar stage!
This 90 Minute Webinar Will Cover:
Carley Whitt is a writer, currently working as a Showrunner's Assistant to Lang Fisher, Co-Creator and Executive Producer of Never Have I Ever on Netflix. She works closely with EPs, reading staffing samples and sitting in on meetings with potential writers. She sees first-hand what comedy Showrunners look for in lower level writers' samples and how they decide who to bring into the room. Before working on Never Have I Ever, Carley was the Writers' PA on Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu. She also worked as an intern and assistant at the Warner Brothers' TV Writers' Workshop, where she helped read submissions and learned how participants are selected, as well as sat in on the workshop sessions. She was a Screenwriting Teaching Assistant at Interlochen Arts Camp. Carley earned BFA in Writing for TV and Film at USC, where she studied topics such as character, structure, pitching and world building. She loves reading and working with fellow writers to help tell their stories in the best way possible.
Bobbie Lucas is a film/tv producer based in Los Angeles. She currently works at Warner Bros. and came from Lionsgate. As an independent producer, she has produced UCLA MFA thesis film "Cassandra" and the short film "Bubbles." She graduated with her MFA in Film and Television Producing from UCLA and her BA in Film and Economics from Vassar College.
