Roadmap Exclusive Interview!

Aside from a well-introduced world/hero, is there anything else you look for in the first 8-15 pages of a script?

Stakes and world-building that are naturally ingrained in the storytelling (not expositional or superfluous).

If you had to describe a writer’s “voice” in a few words, how would you describe it?

The cadence/rhythm/communication style of the storyteller. It’s not defined by genre.

If you could have been part of any movie or TV show that's been out in the past 2 years, what would it be?

Film: ANNIHILATION - the tension, stakes, the timeless element once they’re inside the Shimmer, the physical representations of the alien were mind-blowing. Alex Garland is one of my favorites and psychological sci-fi is a fantastic genre.

TV: KILLING EVE - such fresh, messy characters. I like how the plot really “goes there.” It’s outlandish but the acting and the deeply personal relationship stories keep it grounded. Huge fan of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Dramedies/ dark humor.
