Roadmap's Marketing Intensive is designed to guide your writing journey and prevent you from throwing spaghetti against the wall just hoping something sticks.

This program helps you strategize and create a solid path to success. Each session is taught by different working industry professionals to ensure each writer gets in front of as many execs as possible!

Walk out of this program with confidence in your pitch, effective loglines & comps, and a personal brand & bio poised to position you ahead of the competition!

SCHEDULE: MARKETING INTENSIVE

$175 Open Pitch Session Credit (Weekends)
  • Pitch your project via a private 8-Min. Verbal Pitch or a 1-2 pg. Written Pitch to execs in 5x Open Pitch Sessions.
  • You’ll receive a personalized feedback report on each pitch.
Private Strategy Call w/ Briana Hansen (Roadmap's Director of Writer Outreach)

Mon 2/4 @ 5:00pm - 6:30pm PT

  • Ahead of the call, writers will submit a one-pager including a bio, loglines, and any traction they've gotten so far.
  • During the call, Briana will help you nail down your strategy for the month and beyond!
Loglines & Tonal Comps w/ Michael Poisson (Writer/Producer; Adult Swim's ROBOT CHICKEN, Netflix's RAISING DION, & Creative Director @ Silent Machine [Krysten Ritter's Company])

Tues 2/5 @ 7:00pm - 9:00pm PT

  • You got the basics of your Logline & Tonal Comps down in the Pitch Prep Program, but now it's time to really make sure that logline pops & that your tonal comps are effective.
    Written Pitch Consultation Roundtable w/ Janet Jeffries (Development Executive, Lawrence Bender Productions - INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, HACKSAW RIDGE, GOOD WILL HUNTING)

    Thurs 2/7 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm PT

    • Writers submit their 1-2 pg. written pitch for review prior to the Roundtable.
    • During the session, writers take turns verbally pitching their brand as a writer and discussing strengths and areas of improvement specific to their pitch.
    • Learn from the feedback given to you and the feedback given to your peers.
    Researching Target Homes w/ Michael Onofri (Development Executive, LD Entertainment - JACKIE, RISEN, JACOB'S LADDER)

    Tues 2/12 @ 7:00pm - 8:00pm PT

    • Knowing how to pitch is just half the battle - now it's time for some tools & tricks for figuring out who to pitch your projects to!
    • The art of researching target homes is luckily one that can be taught - in this session, Michael will walk you through the process of researching target homes for your project on the internet.
    Writer Bios w/ Joey Tuccio (Roadmap's CEO)

    Tues 2/19 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm PT

    • One of the most important pieces of marketing material any writer can have is an effective, informative bio that really captures who you are as a writer and as a human.
    • During this session, you will learn all the tips & tricks you need to compose a standout bio for yourself.
    Mastering Chit-Chat w/ John Hilary Shepherd (VP of Development, New Republic Pictures - BLACK SWAN, AMERICAN MADE, EVEREST)

    Thurs 2/21 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm PT

    • Mastering the art of small talk or "chit-chat" before & after your pitch delivery is a key aspect to help writers stand out from the pack and leave a memorable impression.
    • During this session, John will give a short lecture on the art of chit-chat and then hold a mock elevator pitch roundtable, focusing on the before-and-after chit-chat with each writer.
    Verbal Pitch Roundtable (Scenarios) w/ Adam Engelhard (Literary Manager, MailroomLA)

    Tues 2/26 @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm PT

    • One of the most important pieces of marketing material any writer can have is an effective, informative bio that really captures who you are as a writer and as a human.

    Peer-to-Peer: Mondays @ 6:00pm - 8:00pm PT
    • You’ll join other members on video conferencing software ZOOM to practice your screenwriting pitches. There will not be a moderator or an exec present — this is just for extra practice with your screenwriting network! You may also choose to use this session for a Logline Clinic if you need help writing loglines, tonal comps and much more.
      Webinars: Sundays @ 4:00pm - 5:30pm PT
      • These 90-minute sessions are taught by working screenwriters and industry executives. A comprehensive range of writing and marketing topics is covered by each professional. A live Q&A follows every presentation to address your specific concerns.
        Combs' Corner: 2nd Wednesday of each month @ 5:00pm - 6:00pm PT
        • Roadmap's Creative Director Brandon Combs gives you a behind-the-scenes look at pitch sessions, interacting with executives, the life of an aspiring screenwriter, tips on staying sane, avoiding writer’s block, networking techniques, getting your work out there and more!
          Opening Pages Analysis: 3rd Tuesday of each month @ 6:30pm - 7:30pm PT
          • Roadmap's CEO Joey Tuccio discusses some of the immediate reasons an executive might pass on your work...and you might not even know you're doing one of these things! Remember, most execs won't read past page 5 if they aren't hooked from the start. Joey will give several volunteer writers specific feedback on their opening 3 pages. The pages will be shared on screen with the rest of the group so everybody can learn from the feedback.
