A Maine native, Kira is a producer, writer and occasional director whose work has taken her around the world and has spanned languages, genres, formats and roles. After graduating from McGill University in Montréal, she spent more than 10 years working in China as an in-house producer for Greenpeace East Asia and DJI Studio, and as an independent producer, writer and director for Chinese and international production companies. Her documentary work includes the multi-award-winning Nowhere to Call Home, Between Clouds and Dreams, China on Film, Textile Towns in the Shadows of Pollution, and the forthcoming Invisible Nation. She has also worked on the reality shows House Hunters International web series Radical Cram School: Season 2. Her scripted work includes the Chinese productions The Three Body Problem and Run for Love, and The Metabow. Her English-language projects The Metabow, Good Vibes Only, multi-award-winning Unspoken Code with short comedy Airway, short drama Bright Side of Things, and Chinese language webseries The Jing all in post-production. As a writer, Kira has worked as a script consultant on the Chinese feature films Crazy Alien and Bastardo, and has written on programs for Discovery International such as Sounds of the Road and the reality series The Day I Ran China. She was also a writer on the 100-episode independent Chinese-language web series The Jing and directed several episodes. Her work has been broadcast on UK’s Channel 4 and BBC-3, Singapore’s Channel News Asia, Finland’s YLE, Discovery, HGTV, WhoHaHa, and traveled to dozens of film festivals around the world. Kira currently works as a development consultant for US and Chinese production companies and financiers. Kira speaks fluent English, Chinese and German, and has forgotten a lot of French. She lives in Los Angeles and maintains a company in Beijing.
