Katie Christian is an Emmy-nominated producer and executive with 10 years’ experience across digital, television, and film. Most recently the head of development for MGM’s Digital and New Platforms group, Katie has worked at tech startups and legacy film studios to build out new content divisions, resulting in critical and commercial success. Tasked with running scripted and unscripted development of series and features, Katie specializes in creating content for the 18-34 year old demo.
As the youngest VP at MGM, Katie developed and sold 12 series, including an exclusive slate deal with Walmart, in their inaugural foray into originals. The first series she produced at the studio, a 6-episode ensemble family drama for LightWorkers (a joint venture of MGM, Mark Burnett, and Roma Downey) resulted in an additional 18-episode order, prior to series premiere.
Katie previously ran development for StyleHaul, a multiplatform women’s lifestyle network with 540 million subscribers. Katie’s first series for the network, a teen revenge drama entitled Vanity, received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series. Her second series, Relationship Status, an anthology romantic comedy, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, received Emmy nominations for Outstanding Writing and Directing, became one of the most-watched series on Verizon’s go90 in its three season run, and is currently being developed as an hourlong pilot at Freeform.
Katie began her career working for production companies based at Paramount, Lionsgate, and previously, New Line Cinema. She is particularly passionate about championing underrepresented voices in front of and behind the camera.
