Aside from a well-introduced world/hero, is there anything else you look for in the first 8-15 pages of a script?
HERO/WORLD ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT, BUT I ALSO LOOK FOR A CONFLICT IN THE FIRST 10-12 (DEPENDING ON LENGTH OF THE SCRIPT). IT DOESN’T NEED TO HIT ME ALL AT ONCE, BUT THE SEED OF THE CONFLICT SHOULD BE PLANTED EARLY ON WITH OBSTACLES THROUGHOUT THAT CONNECT TO IT.
If you had to describe a writer’s “voice” in a few words, how would you describe it?
I RESPOND TO WRITING THAT FEELS ORGANIC, CONVERSATIONAL, ALMOST PROSE-LIKE. LESS INSTRUCTIONAL. I LIKE WHEN I FEEL AS THOUGH THE WRITER IS SPEAKING DIRECTLY TO ME IN THE ACTION.
If you could have been part of any movie or TV show that's been out in the past 2 years, what would it be?
The pitch should feel conversational, not rehearsed.
