Top Tier Authors is Step 3 of the Career Author Program. Writers must first complete Step 1: Publishing On-Ramp and Step 2: Conference Track to be considered for the Top Tier Authors Program.
Top Tier is for polished writers who pitch confidently and clearly, as authors in this program will be meeting with agents, publishers, and editors.
Top Tier is where many of our success stories are made. It includes:
GENERAL MEETINGS: Select TWO execs who will read up to 3,000 words from your manuscript before meeting with you on zoom for 30 minutes. These meetings allow you to get specific feedback on your work from an industry professional, to pitch, and allow the exec to get to know more about you and your story in case they'd like to keep in touch and read more material from you.
MANUSCRIPT CRITIQUES: Send 10 pages of your manuscript to Selene Castrovilla, the Director of Authors Programs, who will provide you with feedback in a roundtable with your peers. Each writer receives about 20 minutes devoted to their work during the roundtable. Authors will attend multiple critique roundtables to learn from and support their peers, but each writer will be assigned one roundtable to receive Selene's feedback on their work.
WEEKLY CHECK-INS: Connect with your peers and Selene, your program mentor, in a roundtable setting to discuss your progress, challenges, and strategy moving forward.
TARGETED MARKETING: Near the end of the month, Joey Tuccio, CEO of Roadmap Writers, will contact you about potential next steps for marketing your material through Roadmap's network of industry professionals.
TOP TIER MARKETING EMAILS: Joey shares the details of selected companies' exclusive needs with Top Tier authors. The email subject line will read "Top Tier Marketing."
You'll also be welcome to participate in weekly Top Tier Accountability sessions (that are separate from your weekly check-ins).
If you feel strongly that you are ready for Top Tier without having completed Step 1 or 2, email 15-20 pages of manuscript to selene@roadmapwriters.com for evaluation, along with your one-page synopsis.
Working with Roadmap has been a real pleasure and a treasure trove of good writing. I attend many writers' conferences and workshops and have gotten lots of pitches. I find that the authors who have been vetted and referred to me by Roadmap are very talented, much more than at other venues. I have signed one author who I met through Roadmap and submitted her work to publishers. But there have been many more who have the talent that I am looking for but rarely find. I hope to be doing more work with Roadmap in the future.

After registering, your confirmation email will include a link for you to access your syllabus for the program, which will include any prep work & resources, class dates & times, join links, assignments, and other instructions.
All interactive sessions are conducted face-to-face via video conferencing software Zoom. While the ability to call in by phone does exist, we strongly recommend taking full advantage of the face-to-face nature of these programs, so you should plan to attend your sessions in front of a computer or stationary tablet at a desk or table in a well-lit room. All Zoom sessions are recorded and distributed to the participating writers so everyone can be fully present in the session and still have a record to review for notes if needed.
