Bronx native Alisa De Los Reyes started her creative life as a jazz and modern dancer. She graduated college with a BFA in Dance and a double minor in English and Black and Puerto Rican studies (she always dreamed of money, obviously). The dancer’s life morphed into a career as a fitness professional, and for fifteen years she taught group exercise classes all over New York City. Although no longer a performer but needing to return to her creative roots (and her body needing a break), she took her passion for writing from the back to the front burner. In doing so, she also revived her interest in history and women’s issues via strong female protagonists, the hallmark of her work. Her first feature, Fire Sign, made the semi-finals in Fresh Voices 2016, and she has since completed another drama feature and a dramedy TV pilot. She lives in Brooklyn.
