In this day and age, there are so many avenues for writers pursuing a career in entertainment. There's film, television, digital, and theater, but many people overlook unscripted television as a path needing creators. It makes sense. When we think of writing for television, we think of shows like FRIENDS and BREAKING BAD, but shows like PROJECT RUNWAY and EXTREME MAKEOVER HOME EDITION need someone to come up with the concept, develop the show, and pitch it before millions of people can tune in to watch every week.
Writers would be remiss not to consider unscripted to be a tool in their toolbox. That's why Roadmap welcomes Jenni Schalk to the webinar stage!
This 90 Minute Webinar Will Cover:
Jenni Schalk found her way to documentary film during her education at Ohio University, producing two feature documentaries, one of which, Athens Asylum, earned a regional Emmy nomination.
She began her New York career at a political advertising firm working on campaigns for Kirsten Gillibrand, Moveon.org, and Hillary Clinton’s first presidential bid. Since, Jenni's specialized in non-fiction, documentary and unscripted content, producing an eclectic collection of programming for National Geographic, Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project, ABC, Bloomberg, WEtv and more. Beyond television, she's produced with Google Creative Lab, Moxie Pictures, Airbnb.
In addition to production, Jenni specializes in non-fiction development from creative to contracts. From working independently to running a development department, her skillset is flexible and wide-ranging. Currently, she is consulting for production companies and brands on development, creative and strategy and producing for CNX, Conde Nast's internal ad agency.
