Female Representation in Animation

Stephanie Wilkie
Production Coordinator
Sony Pictures Animation

Screenwriting covers a lot of ground: you have features, hour-long dramas, 30-minute sitcoms, miniseries, limited series, and on and on. One lesser looked at format is animation. Roadmap is thrilled to have Stephanie Wilkie from Sony Animation talk about how while writing for animation is different from writing for live action, it is still plagued with the same problem of lack of female representation. Your hosts will cover this topic from a development (Peter) and a production (Stephanie) perspective, drawing from their own experiences in the animation business.

This 90-Min. Webinar Will Cover:

  • Learn how writing for animation is different than writing for live action
  • Concrete examples of animation that show females done well and others that need work
  • What the landscape for animation looks like today and where it's headed
  • The creative vs. business side of animation
