There's no shortage of misconceptions out there about animation, and Roadmap has asked the awesome Aaron Jacob to give us his insider expertise on bringing prime time animation to life. He'll discuss the script, the actual production, post, and different ways you can get your script out there!

Aaron Jacob is a writer, composer, filmmaker, and singer with highlighted experience in animation production and music. Graduating Chapman University with a Screenwriting degree, he worked in creative development at Original Force 3D Animation before being hired as their Script Coordinator on an animated feature. He currently works at a Script & Post Coordinator at Bento Box Entertainment on several of their animation shows (Paradise PD, Duncanville, Hoops, To Be Announced Netflix and Apple TV+ Show). He has written and directed several successful short films. Some highlights include the proof of concept short film Knight Watch starring Carolina Ravassa (Overwatch, Hispanglosaxon) and Bex Taylor-Klaus (Deputy, Voltron, Dumplin), Paralysis starring Amber Grace (Away) and Dom Fera (YouTube's DomincFear), and Riley starring Bex Taylor-Klaus and Vincent Martella (Phineas and Ferb, The Walking Dead, Everybody Hates Chris). He optioned a war fantasy feature screenplay in 2017, and is currently developing several other feature and television work for both live-action and animation. Additionally, he co-created, writes for, and composes the music for The Lucid Podcast, a new horror anthology series, now available to stream.
He also has experience in music production for television and film. He composed his colleagues' thesis films in college, many of which went on to festival acclaim. In the same year, Aaron received Craft Awards in Music for two NYU thesis films, one of which is now distributed by DUST (Stevie's Aliens dir. Austin S. Harris). He has also worked as a Music Editor on Disney TV Animation shows and would contribute his own compositional work to episodes of Milo Murphy's Law as an additional music composer. He has been an accomplished session singer for nearly 15 years, with his vocals appearing on countless TV Animation shows, notably Phineas and Ferb, Milo Murphy's Law, and The Lion Guard. He appeared in the Disney+ original animated feature Phineas and Ferb: Candace Against the Universe.
Aaron is a founding member and serves as the Development Manager of Debatable Productions, a production company that provides film, theatre, and music production opportunities to youth and young adults. While heading most of its film programs, Aaron has developed works from young writers ages 16-25 through writers room workshop programs alongside other industry mentors like Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh (Co-Creators of Phineas and Ferb). He also directed their premiere stage production of the musical Cabaret in 2018, and will continue to direct an original musical in 2021.
