From Voice to Subtext: All Things Dialogue with Roadmap’s Director of Education

Alex Davies
Director of Education @ Roadmap Writers
Sunday 4/18 @ 9:00am - 11:00am PT

Dialogue is a powerful tool that when utilized effectively can make (or break!) a script. How do you reveal information without spoon-feeding it to the audience? How do you make things that are carefully plotted sound organic? And how do you know whether or not what you’ve written conveys the story, characters, and theme?

Join us for this special one-day clinic to learn the ins and outs of dialogue from Roadmap’s Director of Education!

This 2-Hour Clinic Will Cover:

  • The basics of scene structure and characterization
  • Subtext
  • Voice and dialect
  • Feedback on your pages
  • Live Q&A
Walk away with stellar dialogue that sizzles on the page!
About Your Host

Alexandra Davies holds a degree in English Literature from UCLA, which she earned while pursuing acting. As an actress for many years, she learned the ins and outs of dialogue first hand, both on stage and in front of the camera. As the Director of Education at Roadmap, Alex strives to identify the most common hurdles writers face in developing their work and design classes, clinics, and webinars to address these issues. Dialogue in particular is something she's heard execs harp on time and time again, so she developed this class to tackle the subject head on. In addition, Alex is a writer with several scripts, a novel, short film (produced during the AT&T Shape Create-A-Thon) and a webseries (coming soon!) under her belt. Prior to Roadmap, Alex worked in live events, law, and education.
