ANT-MAN AND THE WASP opened at #1 with $76M (Million), on the lower end of tracking but a solid result over the first film in the series. International brings the film to a very early $161M globally, with many key markets yet to come in a slightly staggered rollout, including China, where the Marvel brand is strong. Overall this is yet another winner for Disney and their superheroes.
INCREDIBLES 2 is #2 with $29M, a domestic total of $504.3M to become the top animated film ever, not adjusted for inflation, and even with adjustments, this will be the top Pixar film of all-time before its run is over. Worldwide stands at $772.7M, with many key markets yet to debut. The film will definitely exceed past the $1B mark, in a big win for Disney and Pixar.
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM held at #3 with $28.5M, a domestic total now of $333M, and $1.058 Billion globally, as this one continues to play and play both in the United States and internationally. With a budget of $170M plus marketing costs, this is another huge hit for Universal.
THE FIRST PURGE opened at #4 with $17.1M for the three-days, a total five-day debut of $31M, and an early $41.9M global, with most territories yet to open. Produced for only $13M plus marketing costs, this will be another profitable installment of the franchise for Universal and Blumhouse.
SICARIO: DAY OF THE SOLDADO is #5 with $7.3M, a domestic total of $35.3M, and a very early $43.5M worldwide, with almost every market yet to debut. Produced for $35M plus marketing, this should go on to be solidly profitable, with a third (and final) film announced.
UNCLE DREW slid to #6 with $6.6M, and a total of $29.9M. Produced for around $17M plus a modest marketing campaign, this should end up profitable for Lionsgate.
OCEAN'S 8 is #7 with $5.8M, a domestic total now of $126.7M, and $236.8M worldwide. Produced for $70M plus marketing, this film is already nicely profitable for Warner Bros., and will likely spawn another installment in the franchise.
TAG is #8 with $3.1M, a domestic total of $48.3M, and an early $60.8M globally. Produced for a reasonable $28M plus marketing, this should go on to be profitable for Warner Bros. thanks to strongholds and a decent international run.
WON'T YOU BE MY NEIGHBOR? held at #9 with $2.5M, and a total of $12.3M, a strong result for this documentary from Focus.
DEADPOOL 2 is #10 with $1.6M, a domestic total of $314.5M, and a global take of $727.2M. Produced for $110M plus marketing, this is a huge hit for Fox and Marvel, with the X-Force spinoff on the way.
Next weekend sees the debuts of Dwayne Johnson actioner SKYSCRAPER, and Adam Sandler animated monster mash HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3, both looking to connect with their respective audiences and keep this summer's hot streak at the box office going well into July.
